On August 23, 2021, The FDA granted full approval for the Pfizer Covid Vaccine. On August 24, 2021, the US Air Force commander issued a statement requiring all Airmen to be fully vaccinate by 11/2/21 (active duty) and 12/2/21 (reserve and guard).
All of this was very predictable. What was not predicted was the total amount of outright refusals. Refusing a direct order from your chain of command is a violation and punishable under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, or the UCMJ. After the mandate was issued, about 23,500 Air Force members said no. 14,500 of those members were made up of reserve and guard.
I was also one of them. The propaganda was sickening. No one was able to get an exemption. Not even pregnant and nursing mothers. Members retiring in less than a year would not even be exempt. Medical exemptions were extremely rare because of course, they deemed you were more likely to get sick form covid rather than the vaccine.
Our last option was a religious exemption. This is where the military fails its members even more. In my unit, only about 10 of us requested to file a religious accommodation request. All but 1 were granted that request. Can you guess who wasn’t? I of course being not only unvaccinated, but the only Black unvaccinated member was treated like a pariah.
I was immediately singled out from my job. I was forced to take a covid test every day before work. Everyone knew my business; even those not in my direct chain of command. I was being called into meetings with Senior NCOs and Officers that were so high above my rank, I could have an advocate with me. They also failed to notify my direct supervisor about these so called counsels. Each meeting was to reprimand me and try to change my mind.
At one point, I wasn’t even allowed on base because of my vaccination status. I was told I missed the deadline to file for a religious accommodation (later found out there was no deadline). All the while the other unvaccinated folk were treated with the upmost discretion and respect. While I was away I was emailed an LOR, letter of reprimand. I was the only unvaccinated member to receive it.
After being denied the opportunity to request a religious exemption and also denied the ability to give a rebuttal to the LOR, I had had enough. I went to speak with someone of legal counsel, the Equal Opportunity representative about racial discrimination, and the Inspector General about religious discrimination and unprofessional behavior in the workplace. Also our so called advocate, the First Sergeant.
Apparently it didn’t matter. The unvaccinated has no rights. Unvaccinated is the new Black.
Just do what you’re told and you wouldn’t be facing the problems. So in March of 2021, a decision that I did not agree with was made on my behalf. I was to serve my contract out at home with no pay and benefits. It is called the Involuntary Ready Reserve. If I wanted to return to the military, I’d have to wait until my contract is up and reenlist. Obviously I would not be able to.
At this point, I took my L. This is just another chapter in my life where I am challenged on my beliefs and had to stand strong; even in the face of persecution. I will go home and integrate myself in civilian life. Get a job. Finish school. And when my contract is up in 2024, I will discharge and get my benefits. Or so I thought.
On August 29, 2022 I was told to report to duty on September 9th. I was told when I arrive, I have a meeting with the chaplain to file for a religious accommodation. I will have the opportunity to makeup training I missed. I will stay for the rest of the month and do annual tour. I am reenrolled in upgrade training so I may rank up next year. Confusing right?
I am not the only one. The US Military is quietly recalling members that were sent home because of vaccination status. A federal judge has blocked the Air Force and other branches from punishing unvaccinated members who have requested a religious waiver for the vaccine. In the case of Doster v. Kendall, a class action law suit that originally only included 100 servicemen with a complaint against the pentagon’s mandate, now includes Air Force, Space Force, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, USAFA, and Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps.
Why is the military not advertising this? The unvaccinated are now a protected class. Many airman have come to me in confidence and thanked me for being an example. A lot were angry and believed they would lose their careers if they had not taken it.
I just choose to believe that God is at work here. Standing firm and unmovable in the face of persecution and in God’s name, you cannot fail. Whether this is only temporary or I will get kicked out if my waiver isn't approved, I am still doing my job as others who are vaccinated. I didn’t have to sacrifice my body for an experimental vaccine.
Everyone who held out and is witnessing this shift in how we treat covid is a trooper. I don’t make fun of or even blame those who took the vaccine. But I hope you are paying attention on one of the biggest scams in American history.
US Military Quietly Calls Back Unvaccinated Members
The Pfizer and Moderna brews are still experimental and were never FDA approved. The FDA, a drug company really, played bait and switch approving a label, COMIRNATY and later SPIKE JAB for Moderna, both of which are not available in the USA. To this day, the injections are still experimental and this is obvious beyond their labels because there is no informed consent since all of the ingredients have not been disclosed.
